Stronger golfers are better golfers. Sound too simplistic? In the absence of Golf-specific training (by Titleist Certified Fitness trainers like myself) and a good swing coach, weight training won’t lower your scores by itself. However, as your golf-specific movements improve, better ball-striking will follow. Here’s where strength pays off – added acceleration through the impact zone. In the extreme sport of world-class Longdrive, you won’t see many of those guys who look like strangers to the gym. I incorporate weight training during the winter months into all of my clients’ programs. Keeping flexible and mobile all at the same time. Don’t neglect your strength!!
